Born in Jamestown, Chautauqua County, New York. A resident of Aurora, Kane County, Illinois when he enlisted in the 89th Illinois Infantry for three years at Aurora, Illinois. Mustered in as a Private in Company E at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois on 25 Aug 1862. Transferred to the 34th Company, 2nd Battalion, Veteran Reserve Corps on 22 Oct 1864. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Served the Post as Senior Vice Commander in 1909 and Commander in 1910. Died in Tacoma, Washington. He is buried in a G.A.R. section of the cemetery.
