Born in Canton, St. Lawrence County, New York. Enlisted in the 11th New York Cavalry for three years at Canton, New York. Mustered in as a Musician in Company M on 13 Sep 1862. Reduced to the ranks (date not stated). Mustered out at Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. Elected a Companion of the First Class by Inheritance from 1st Lieutenant Frederick H. Boynton, 106th New York Infantry (died Feb 1873) in the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States (MOLLUS) through the Minnesota Commandery on 7 Oct 1885. Transferred to the Washington Commandery as a Charter Member on 31 Dec 1890. Served the Washington Commandery as Recorder (1891-1892) and Registrar (1891-1892). A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Later joined Stevens Post No. 1 of Seattle, King County, Washington. Died in Seattle, Washington. His cremains are located in the Columbarium in the Rose Room, South Wall, Row C, Niche 11&12.
