Born in Hume, Allegany County, New York. A resident of Alma, Allegany County, New York when he enlisted in the 160th New York Infantry for three years at Alma, New York. Mustered in as a Private in Company H on 21 Nov 1862. Mustered out with his Company at Savannah, Georgia. Joined George H. Thomas Post No. 5 of Olympia, Thurston County, Washington on 16 Mar 1901. Joined Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington by reinstatement on 19 Jul 1913. Elected as an Alternate to the 1914 and 1915 Encampments of the Department of Washington and Alaska. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home Colony at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 27 Feb 1915 and honorably discharged on 20 Mar 1915. Admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Sawtelle, Los Angeles County, California on 7 Apr 1915 and discharged at his own request on 21 May 1915. Died in Santa Clara County, California.
