Born in Ohio. A resident of Bowling Green, Clay County, Indiana when he was drafted into the 51st Indiana Infantry. Mustered in as a Private in Company K at Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana. A charter member of John A. Anderson Post No. 420 of Louisville, Pottawatomie County, Kansas. Served as the Post's first Quartermaster Sergeant in 1892. He later joined Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Died at his home in Tacoma, Washington.
