Born in Franklin Township, Clermont County, Ohio. Enlisted in the 5th Ohio Cavalry for three years. Mustered in as a Private in Company A at Camp Dick Corwin near Cincinnati, Ohio on 23 Oct 1861. Captured in action near Coldwater, Mississippi on 19 Jun 1863. Mustered out at the expiration of his term of service. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Served as Post Commander in 1904. On 6 May 1907 admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington where he died.
