Born in Ohio. A resident of Iowa County, Iowa when he enlisted in the 4th Iowa Cavalry. Mustered in as a Private in Company E on the same day he enlisted. Mustered out at Atlanta, Georgia on 10 Aug 1865. Discharged at Davenport, Scott County, Iowa. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Served the Post as Officer of the Day in 1890, Senior Vice Commander in 1891, Commander in 1892, and Quartermaster in 1901. Died in Tacoma, Washington.
