Born in Little Falls, Herkimer County, New York. Enlisted in the 13th New York Cavalry for three years at New York City. Mustered in as a Private in Company D on 18 Jun 1863. Wounded in action at Aldie, Virginia on 6 Jul 1863. Transferred to Company D, 3rd New York Provisional Cavalry on 17 Aug 1865. Mustered out with his Company at Camp Barry, District of Columbia. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. In 1887 served as Post Sergeant Major. Died in the Fern Hill neighborhood of Tacoma, Washington. He is buried in a G.A.R. section of the cemetery.
