Mustered in as a Musician in Company K at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois on 18 Sep 1861. Re-enlisted as a Veteran Volunteer for three years at Brownsville, Cameron County, Texas on 10 Feb 1864. Re-mustered as a Private in Company K at New Orleans, Louisiana on 28 Feb 1864. Promoted to 1st Sergeant of Company K (date not given). Mustered out at Houston, Harris County, Texas. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Appointed United States Marshall for Washington by President Benjamin Harrison in 1889 and served for four years. Died near Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon.
