Born about 1829 in Watertown, Jefferson County, New York. A resident of Wyoming, Kent County, Michigan when he enlisted in the 21st Michigan Infantry for three years at Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan on 15 Aug 1862. Mustered in as a Private in Company E on 3 Sep 1862. Discharged at Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee on 26 Feb 1863. Enlisted in the 28th Michigan Infantry for three years at Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, Michigan. Mustered in as a Sergeant in Company E the same day he enlisted. Discharged at Washington, DC. He married Frances R. Miller at Sauk Rapids, Benton County, Minnesota on 10 Oct 1869. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 11 May 1916 where he died.
