Mustered in as 8th Corporal in Company C at Benton Barracks, Missouri on 22 Sep 1862. Jul-Aug 1864 listed as 3rd Corporal. Wounded in arm on 28 Jul 1864 in Georgia. Nov-Dec 1864 listed as 3rd Sergeant. On 30 Jan 1865 acting 1st Sergeant. On 16 Apr 1865 promoted to Sergeant Major and transferred to Field and Staff (F&S). Mustered out at Washington, DC. A member of William H. Lytle Post No. 32 of Fort Scott, Bourbon County, Kansas. Transferred to Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington on 24 Dec 1910. On 30 Oct 1911 admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home Colony at Orting, Pierce County, Washington. Died in Orting, Washington.
