A resident of Leavenworth, Leavenworth County, Kansas when he enlisted as a Veteran recruit in the 7th Kansas Cavalry on 7 Mar 1864. Mustered in as a Private in Company A on 7 Mar 1864. Mustered out with the Regiment on 29 Sep 1865. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Sawtelle, Los Angeles County, California on 21 Mar 1921 and discharged on 20 Dec 1923. Died in Bellingham, Whatcom County, Washington. Some military records spell his first name as "Osias".
