On 9 Jun 1863 he transferred to the USS Seminole where he served as Coxswain until 14 May 1864. On 15 May 1864 he joined the crew aboard the USS Nightingale arriving in Boston on 9 Jun 1864. On 10 Jun 1864 he transferred to the receiving ship USS Ohio where he was discharged from the U.S. Navy. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 2 Apr 1897 and discharged on 28 Dec 1899. Re-admitted to the Soldiers Home on 8 Feb 1900 and discharged on 4 Apr 1900. He was again admitted to the Soldiers Home on 10 Oct 1912 and discharged at his own request on 14 Jul 1913. Admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Hot Springs, Fall River County, South Dakota on 18 Jul 1913 and discharged at his own request on 18 Sep 1913. On 29 Sep 1913 admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Washington where he died.
