Born in Owen County, Indiana. A resident of Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas when he enlisted in the 12th Kansas Infantry. Mustered in as a Sergeant in Company H on 30 Sep 1862. Mustered out with his Company. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Elected by the Post as an Alternate to the 1916 Encampment of the Department of Washington and Alaska, Grand Army of the Republic (GAR). Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 19 Sep 1912. Transferred to the Washington State Soldiers Home Colony at Orting, Washington on 29 Feb 1916 and was discharged in Aug 1918. Died at his home in Orting, Washington. Some military records spell his last name as "Milhoun" or "Millhoan".
