Born in Saint Andrews, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada. A resident of Columbia, Washington County, Maine when he enlisted in the 22nd Maine Infantry for nine months. Mustered in as a Private in Company D at Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine on 10 Oct 1862. Mustered out with his Company and honorably discharged at the expiration of his term of service at Bangor, Maine. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 28 Oct 1893 and discharged on 22 Feb 1895. Admitted to the Veterans' Home of California in Napa County, California on 20 Mar 1895 and discharged at his own request on 8 Jun 1895. Re-admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home on 13 Jun 1895 and discharged at his own request on 14 Jun 1896. Again, re-admitted to the Washington Soldiers Home on 27 Nov 1898 and discharged at his own request on 6 Aug 1900. Re-admitted a final time on 29 Sep 1900. Joined Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington on 1 Jul 1911. Elected as an Alternate to the 1914 Encampment of the Department of Washington and Alaska, Grand Army of the Republic (GAR). Died in Orting, Washington.
