Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 6 May 1903 and discharged at his own request on 1 Mar 1906. Re-admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home on 20 Nov 1915. Died at Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. Some military records spell his last name as "McCarthy".
