Born in Mukwonago, Wisconsin. A resident of Mukwonago, Wisconsin when he enlisted in the 39th Wisconsin Infantry for 100 days on 15 May 1864. Mustered in as a Private in Company B. Mustered out at the expiration of his term of service at Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin on 22 Sep 1864. A resident of Mukwonago, Wisconsin when he enlisted in the 51st Wisconsin Infantry. Mustered out at Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin. A member of Graham Post No. 76 of Canyonville, Douglas County, Oregon. Served as Post Commander in 1907 and Officer of the Day in 1909. Transferred to Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington on 6 Aug 1910. On 16 Jun 1913 admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington where he died.
