A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 7 Oct 1908 and honorably discharged on 8 Mar 1910. Admitted to the Washington State Veterans Home at Retsil, Kitsap County, Washington on 11 Mar 1910 and discharged at his own request on 1 Oct 1910. Re-admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home on 4 Oct 1910. Died at Fannie C. Paddock Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. Some military records spell his last as "McAuley" or "McCauley".
