Born in Crawford County, Indiana. Enlisted in the 49th Indiana Infantry for three years at Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana. Mustered in as a Private in Company A on 21 Nov 1861. Discharged at Indianola, Texas on 2 Feb 1864. Re-enlisted as a Veteran Volunteer for three years on 3 Feb 1864. Mustered out and discharged at Louisville, Kentucky. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. A resident of the Washington State Soldiers Home Colony at Orting, Pierce County, Washington when he was admitted to the Soldiers Home at Orting, Washington on 13 Jul 1921. He apparently died in the Soldiers Home Hospital at Orting, Washington.
