Born in St. Lawernce County, New York. A resident of Potsdam, St. Lawernce County, New York when he enlisted in the 7th New York Heavy Artillery for three years. Mustered in as a Private in Company M on 3 Jan 1864. Transferred to Company C on 30 Jun 1865. Mustered out with his Company at Fort Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland. A member of Horace S. Roberts Post No. 139 of Alpena, Alpena County, Michigan. Reinstated as a member of the G.A.R. and joined Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington on 23 Dec 1911. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 8 Oct 1916 and left the Home by 26 Nov 1916. Died in Orting, Washington on his way to the Soldiers Home Hospital.
