Born in Germany. A resident of Atchison, Atchison County, Kansas when he enlisted in the 10th Kansas Infantry. Mustered in as a Private in Company B the same day he enlisted. Wounded in the leg during the Battle of Prairie Grove, Arkansas on 7 Dec 1862. Mustered out at Leavenworth, Kansas. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Elected as an Alternate to the 1891 Encampment of the Department of Washington and Alaska. Admitted on 7 May 1903 to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Leavenworth, Leavenworth County, Kansas where he died.
