Enlisted in the 11th Illinois Cavalry for three years at Mount Sterling, Brown County, Illinois. Mustered in as a Private in Company I at Camp Yates, Illinois on 30 Nov 1863. Mustered out at Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Later joined Belden Post No. 59 of Missouri Valley, Harrison County, Iowa. Died at Missouri Valley, Iowa.
