Mustered in as a Private in Company K at Fort Snelling, Minnesota on 23 Dec 1861. Re-enlisted and re-mustered as a Veteran Volunteer at St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota on 21 Mar 1864. Promoted to Corporal (date not given). The 4th Minnesota Infantry mustered out at Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky on 19 Jul 1865. The Regiment then proceed to Fort Snelling, Minnesota to receive their final pay and discharge on 7 Aug 1865. Joined Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington on 30 Dec 1911. Died in Los Angeles County, California. His headstone mistakenly indicates he is a veteran of the Spanish-American War.
