Born in Frankenstein, Germany. A resident of Salisbury, Herkimer County, New York when he enlisted in the 97th New York Infantry for three years at Salisbury, New York. Mustered in as a Private in Company D on 26 Nov 1861. Wounded in action at Chancellorsville, Virginia. Transferred to Company B, 10th Regiment, Veteran Reserve Corps on 27 Jul 1863. Prior to becoming a member of John F. Miller Post No. 31 of Seattle, King County, Washington he was a member of Ransom Post No. 6 of Mitchell, Davison County, South Dakota and Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Died in Seattle, Washington. Also known as "Nabinge", "Nebinger", and "Nehinger".
