Born in Barry, Pike County, Illinois. A resident of Groveland, Tazewell County, Illinois when he enlisted in the 2nd Illinois Light Artillery for one year at Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois. Mustered in as a Private in Battery F at Springfield, Illinois on 5 Oct 1864. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Served as Post Chaplain in 1891. Also represented the Post as a Delegate to the 9th Annual Encampment of the Department of Washington and Alaska, Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) held 22-24 Apr 1891 at Puyallup, Pierce County, Washington. Died in Pomona, Los Angeles County, California.
