Born in Indiana. A resident of Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana when he enlisted as a substitute for James T. Smock in the 33rd Indiana Infantry at Indianapolis, Indiana. Mustered in as a Private in Company D on 14 Mar 1865. The Regiment marched in the Grand Review at Washington, DC on 24 May 1865. Mustered out at Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. On 29 Apr 1914 admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Sawtelle, Los Angeles County, California where he died.
