Commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant of Company I and mustered in on 28 Aug 1862. Promoted to 1st Lieutenant on 18 Apr 1863. Discharged for disability. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. The Post elected him as an Alternate to the 1901 and 1909 and as a Delegate to the 1907 and 1913 Encampments of the Department of Washington and Alaska, Grand Army of the Republic (GAR). Admitted on 17 Sep 1913 to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Sawtelle, Los Angeles County, California where he died.
