Mustered in as a Private in Company K at Sandy Hook, Franklin County, Pennsylvania on 1 Aug 1861. Transferred to the Signal Corps, U.S. Volunteers on 1 Mar 1864. A member of Phil H. Sheridan Post No. 44 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Became a member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Washington when Sheridan Post was consolidated into Custer Post. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 16 Apr 1913 and discharged at his own request on 19 Dec 1914. Re-admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home on 30 Aug 1918. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home Colony at Orting, Washington on 22 Apr 1926. Admitted to the Washington State Veterans Home at Retsil, Kitsap County, Washington on 16 Nov 1927 where he died. Various military records spell his last name as "Moslander" or "Morslander".
