Born in Ohio. Enlisted in the 125th Ohio Infantry for three years. Mustered in as a Private in Company K at Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio on 5 Dec 1863. Mustered out at Camp Dennison, Ohio. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. According to a newspaper article published on 30 May 1929, he was one of the 40 remaining members of Custer Post, which 20 years prior had a membership of more than 300. He and his wife Samantha were admitted to the Washington State Veterans Home at Retsil, Kitsap County, Washington on 9 Mar 1914. He was re-admitted to the Veterans Home on 21 Jun 1929. Died in the Veterans Home Hospital at Retsil, Washington.
