Born in East Venice, Cayuga County, New York. A resident of East Venice, New York when he enlisted in the 19th New York Infantry for two years at Moravia, Cayuga County, New York. Mustered in as a Private in Company F on 22 May 1861. Transferred to Company A on 28 Sep 1861. Designation of Regiment changed to 3rd New York Light Artillery at Washington, DC on 11 Dec 1861. Mustered out with his Battery at Auburn, Cayuga County, New York. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 22 Jun 1921. Died in Tacoma, Washington. He is buried in a G.A.R. section of the cemetery.
