Born in Parke County, Indiana. A resident of Carroll Township, Vermilion County, Illinois when he enlisted in the 125th Illinois Infantry for three years at Myersville, Vermilion County, Illinois. Mustered in as a Private in Company B at Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois on 3 Sep 1862. A member of Col. Frank Haskell Post No. 75 of Artesian City, Sanborn County, South Dakota. Served as Post Adjutant from 1885 to 1888. Later joined Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Died in Tacoma, Washington. He is buried in a G.A.R. section of the cemetery.
