Discharged at Harper's Ferry, Virginia. Enlisted in the 2nd New York Veteran Cavalry for three years at Saratoga, Saratoga County, New York on 7 Aug 1863. Mustered in as a Private in Company C on 13 Aug 1863. Transferred to Company F on 9 Sep 1863. Promoted to Sergeant (date not stated). Mustered out with his Company at Talladega, Alabama on 8 Nov 1865. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Served the Post as Officer of the Guard in 1885, Officer of the Day in 1887, Quartermaster Sergeant in 1888, and Quartermaster in 1889. Died at his home in Tacoma, Washington. He is buried in a G.A.R. section of the cemetery. His first name has been spelled in various military and pension records as "Orin", "Orien", and "Oren".
