Born in Pennsylvania. Enlisted in the 188th Ohio Infantry for one year. Mustered in as a Private in Company I at Camp Chase, Ohio on 4 Mar 1865. Promoted to Sergeant on 1 Aug 1865. Mustered out with his Company at Nashville, Tennessee. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Elected by the Post as an Alternate to the Encampment of the Department of Washington and Alaska in 1915 and 1917. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 3 Dec 1921, and discharged at his own request on 8 Dec 1921. Died in Sumner, Pierce County, Washington. He is buried in a G.A.R. section of the cemetery.
