Born in Germany. Mustered out at Edgefield, Tennessee. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 5 Nov 1900 and discharged at his own request on 20 Jun 1901. Re-admitted to the Soldiers Home on 19 Jan 1903. Joined Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington on 15 Aug 1914. Elected an Alternate to the 1915 Encampment of the Department of Washington and Alaska, Grand Army of the Republic (GAR). Died in Tacoma, Washington, his death certificate indicates he was a resident of the Soldiers Home. He is buried in a G.A.R. section of the cemetery.
