Born in Pennsylvania. A resident of Lycoming County, Pennsylvania when he enlisted in the 13th Pennsylvania Cavalry (117th Volunteers) for three years. Mustered out with his Company on 14 Jul 1865 at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, and was discharged at Camp Cadwallader, Pennsylvania. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Served the Post as Quartermaster Sergeant in 1913. Died in Tacoma, Washington. He is buried in a G.A.R. section of the cemetery. His military records list his last name as "Aney" or "Any".
